March 2009

For some reason I completely hated winter this year.  (It may be mostly due to the horse channel.) But no worries, now spring has finally sprung!  I've planted the seeds in the greenhouse and will transplant the seedlings in the boxes on mothers' day.  I've planted asparagus, onion, garlic, potato and strawberry starts.  The chicken and turkey chicks have been ordered and will be delivered to our post office late April.  I'm about to prune my roses and grapes and plant some sugar maple and more apple trees.  The flat-wonderful peach trees are in full bloom although I've not seen a single bee.  The weather is still cold most days, but the sun has come out... and so have we!  Starting up things like mowing the lawn (which can take up to 2 hours at our place) and riding without arctic gear on is nice.  Yesterday the kids pitched the tents and had a picnic lunch while I was riding in the arena... HEAVEN.

Ivy wrote a poem tonight and I LOVE it so much and I thought I'd share:

HORSE HORSE

We hear that every day of course

Usually running

But always stunning

Bucking, bolting, biting

Glamorous when fighting

Facing you racing you

And always knowing why or who

Movies

After seeing the movie "August Rush" (which is in my top 10 movies of all time) Heath wanted to play like the characters in the movie...

Yvar and I are still working on a few things... but we are getting better! Ivy and Lilly are a blur here too...
